President Donald Trump has gained another outspoken critic, as more prominent Hollywood figures continue to voice opposition.
Since returning to the White House for a second term in January 2025, the U.S. President has remained a polarizing figure due to his policies and proposals.
From his controversial “Golden Dome” defense plan and renewed interest in acquiring Greenland, to his intensified immigration enforcement through ICE, Trump has faced criticism from both the public and high-profile celebrities. His name resurfacing in discussions surrounding the Epstein files has also fueled ongoing scrutiny.
Now, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman has publicly questioned the Commander-in-Chief, particularly as tensions involving Iran escalate.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently stated that while Trump prefers a diplomatic outcome, Iran would be “very wise” to negotiate with the United States regarding its nuclear program.
According to CBS News, Trump has reviewed potential military timelines concerning Iran, although he has not made a final decision on whether to authorize a strike.
With concerns about a possible global conflict intensifying—and the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight than at any previous point—international anxiety continues to grow.
Freeman took to X (formerly Twitter) and reposted a 2011 tweet in which Trump wrote: “In order to get elected, @BarackObama will start a war with Iran.”
Freeman added a brief caption: “This you?”
The post sparked debate online. One critic responded, “Trump is already elected. He doesn’t need a war to win.” Another wrote, “Why not tag him directly, Morgan?”

Supporters of Freeman applauded the move, with one user calling it “one of the best ‘This you?’ moments,” while another labeled Trump “one of the biggest hypocrites in the world.”
Before the 2024 election, false claims circulated that Freeman supported Trump. However, a representative for the Shawshank Redemption star clarified he never endorsed Trump’s second term. In fact, Freeman appeared in a 2024 video alongside Bill Pullman, Geena Davis, Michael Douglas, and Tony Goldwyn in support of President Joe Biden, portraying a fictional presidential advisory moment.
Previously, Freeman also participated in a video for the Committee to Investigate Russia, criticizing Trump’s relationship with Vladimir Putin and alleging Russian interference in U.S. elections.
That video ultimately led to Freeman being permanently banned from Russia in 2022.
Freeman is not alone in speaking out. Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito recently called for a “revolution” in response to ICE policies, while Woody Harrelson told the Associated Press he wished there were a way “to get rid” of Trump.
Meanwhile, Trump has retained support from several notable figures, including Oscar-winners Jon Voight and Mel Gibson, along with Sylvester Stallone and Kelsey Grammer.
At the same time, Academy Award recipients such as Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Anne Hathaway have openly criticized him.
Through his recent post, Morgan Freeman has made his stance on the Iran situation—and on President Trump—unmistakably clear.
