Son Playing the Role of “The Husband”
After school, the boy ran straight home, eyes sparkling:
- Dad! Our school is putting on a play! I got a role!
His father smiled and asked:
- Really? What role did you get?
The boy beamed:
- I’ll be playing the husband!
His father sighed, hand on his forehead:
- Oh no… couldn’t they give you a role where you actually get to speak a few lines?
The boy shrugged:
- Dad, this role is special! I don’t say a single word, I just sit quietly and listen…
His father laughed:
- Sounds familiar… you’ll learn all the tricks of “surviving marriage” from day one.
The boy added:
- And the teacher said, if I do well, I might even get bonus points for staying silent throughout the play.
His father nodded, chuckling:
- I see… you’re on your way to becoming a master of the “silent husband” profession, just like your dad.
Then the boy added a detail that made his father burst out laughing:
- And dad… tomorrow I have to perform it again, standing next to mom, so I can learn how to “listen to everything she says without reacting.”
His father doubled over with laughter, imagining the scene on stage: the silent husband, serious face, while mom’s character talks non-stop, the whole class would definitely be in stitches.
