A marriage counselor was giving a powerful seminar on stage to a packed auditorium. Eager to gauge the crowd, he shouted into the microphone, “Alright, let’s be completely honest today! Every single man in this room who is absolutely terrified of his wife, please stand up and walk down to the stage right now!”
Instantly, a massive wave of movement filled the room. Hundreds of men hung their heads, stood up, and shuffled down the aisles until the stage was completely overcrowded with terrified husbands.
The speaker looked out across the empty rows of seats and noticed one solitary man still sitting comfortably near the back, entirely unmoved.
Impressed by this incredible display of masculine courage, the speaker pointed at him and boomed through the speakers, “Wow! Look at that! You, sir, are the only man in this entire venue who didn’t move an inch. I have immense respect for your bravery! Tell us, what is your secret to standing up to your wife?”
The man looked up nervously, glanced left and right, and replied into the quiet room:
“Oh, I’m not standing up to anyone. My wife just told me that if I move from this exact seat before she gets back from the restroom, she’ll divorce me.”
