An American Airlines plane was forced to land in an emergency after passengers reported seeing lice crawling around on a woman’s head. According to TikTok user Ethan Judelson, the airline provided little to no information on what precipitated the emergency landing, so he learned everything through word of mouth.
Ethan explains that when he saw the plane had turned around, he asked the person next to him what was going on. The passenger stated that the flight crew had announced that they needed to land due to a “medical emergency.”
“I look around, no one’s, like, on the ground, no one’s freaking out. I’m like, it can’t be that dire,” he stated. “But we land, and as soon as we land this woman across the aisle from me, like, shoots up and, like, rushes to the front of the plane.”
A perplexed Ethan and another passenger sat next to him assumed the woman was simply impatient to get off the plane. They shrugged it off, and the flight crew told them that everyone would be given further information once they got off the plane.
However, Ethan claims that as they deplaned, all they were told was that their trip to New York will take off again in 12 hours. The travelers also received an email including a hotel voucher and $12 in spending money. The 28-year-old man did notice two women who appeared to be aware of the issue, but their responses were “cryptic”.
“They were like, ‘Let’s just say it was in the best interest of everyone here that they did this. It’s for the safety of the plane,'” he recalled them saying.
The next day, Ethan found out what truly happened by word of mouth. He overheard two passengers mention that the plane was halted due to a lice an outbreak. “Apparently, those two girls, they saw bugs crawling out of the woman’s hair,” he added of the mysterious women from the day before.
They clearly notified a flight attendant of the problem, resulting in the emergency landing. He claims that when the two women reboarded the plane, they were allocated to their previous seats and refused to sit in them. According to Ethan, the flight crew put someone else in those seats. “I do not think the people who sat in those seats knew what was happening,” he told me.
