Donald Trump sparks concern after people notice he’s stopped doing one thing amid ‘break up’ rumours with Elon Musk

There is a long history between Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

For starters, the 53-year-old Tesla CEO is said to have spent $300 million supporting the 78-year-old Republican president, specifically in his re-election campaign against Democratic leader Kamala Harris.

Musk, whose Tesla cars have been highly backed by Trump, was also appointed as the non-Senate-confirmed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and it looked that neither of the men could go a few days without praising the other on their respective social media accounts.

And now, in the latest round of the tale, Trump has caused some serious alarm after people noted that he has stopped doing one item in the midst of his claimed ‘breakup’ with the tech tycoon.

According to a Politico study, Trump was writing about Musk, who was previously dubbed ‘President Musk’ because to his engagement in Trump’s government, an average of four times each week on Truth Social in February and March.

This was around the time Musk and the DOGE ordered the dismissal of staff and the closure of federal departments.

According to the site, the president has not referenced Musk since early April.

And it appears that Musk has echoed this practice, since he posted about Trump practically every day on his X account until early April, but posts mentioning Trump have since significantly decreased.

Polling indicates that Musk is unpopular with the public, and he has since moved aside from front-line politics.

Prior to that, he was subjected to some derision for the outcome of the Wisconsin Supreme Court contest the previous month.

“He’s finished, done, gone. He polls terribly. People hate him,” an anonymous GOP operative told Politico. “He’d go to Wisconsin thinking he can buy people’s votes, wear the cheese hat, act like a nine-year-old.

“It doesn’t work. It’s offensive to people.”

Politico also reports that the official White House account and some of Trump’s top aides have ceased referencing Musk on social media.

Just last month, Trump was accused of telling cabinet colleagues that his wealthy counterpart will be dismissed from his position in the ‘coming weeks’. Musk then called the speculation ‘false news.’

In a surprising turn of events, Musk has now signaled that problems may be on the horizon, vowing to reduce the amount of money he invests in right-wing politics for the time being.

Speaking to Bloomberg via video interview at the Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday (20 May), the father-of-13 was asked about his immediate professional plans, to which he coolly replied: “I think, in terms of political spending, I’m going to do a lot less in the future.”

Journalist Mishal Husain then questioned Musk, saying, “And why is that?”

Musk then replied with a straight face and a straightforward five-word statement: “I think I’ve done enough.”

Later, the reporter in question inquired whether his financial decision had been influenced by political pressures, to which Musk avoided the subject.

“If I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it. I do not currently see a reason,” he added.

The surprise remark hasn’t gone unnoticed by millions of spectators, many of whom shared footage of Musk’s interview and interpreted it as confirmation of his and Trump’s rumoured estrangement.

One wrote online: “Oh this breakup is worse than we expected. Good.”

“Some see breakup, some others see lessons taken,” another added.

A third jibed of their allegedly fragmented relationship: “Trump destroys everything he touches. But this particular one, I don’t mind at all.”

“He looks different, he’s in a bad and dark state right now it seems. Did Trump abandon him too?” questioned another.
