The address claimed Putin could ‘serve humanity’ by ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict
Conspiracy theorists are up in arms after spotting Melania Trump’s ‘signature’ on a letter she sent to the Russian president, urging him to cease the Russia-Ukraine war.
Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump met with Russian leader Putin, 72, at a summit in Alaska.
Putin, who claimed the meeting was being held in a ‘constructive atmosphere of mutual respect’, did not end in an agreement to a ceasefire.
Instead, the US President claimed there would be ‘no deal until there’s a deal’ and that there were ‘many, many points’ he and the Russian president did end up agreeing on.
In spite of not attending the summit, Trump’s wife, Melania, sent her regards to Putin in the form of a signed letter.
She implored him to consider the children when deliberating the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, writing: “Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart… they dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”
The First Lady continued to write that Putin had the power to ‘single-handedly restore their melodic laughter’; claiming that by ‘protecting the innocence of these children’, he would be ‘serving humanity’, as well as Russia.
People have since been debating whether the businesswoman actually signed the notice due to alleged similarities between her signature and the one favoured by her husband.
“Why does her signature look like a rendition of Trump’s. They are two different people. That’s so weird,” remarked X user.
A second wrote: “Why does that look like Trumps signature? Did he write a love letter to Putin and sign her name?”
In the meantime, another asked if Melania had ‘borrowed’ Trump’s Sharpie pen, referring to the President’s penchant for signing executive orders with a big, black marker.
Handwriting specialist Bart Baggett has also had his say, claiming the mother-of-one’s signature is similar to Trump’s, having ‘morphed’ in the last decade to match the ‘brand’s’ style guide.
This reportedly includes ‘angular letters’ and ‘long downstrokes’, as per The Independent.
“She’s got a very similar Trumpian style of ‘aggressiveness,’ which I’ll call triangles,” he continued.
Baggett claimed that while he hasn’t personally analysed the letter Melania sent to Putin, he didn’t see anything ‘nefarious’ about it, nor her signature.
“Those conspiracy theories, I think, are just grasping at straws,” he added.
When asked if the rumours were true regarding the Sharpie, however, the handwriting expert replied in the affirmative.
“It’s quite possible,” he explained. “I think a Sharpie probably was used, and it is very typical of [Trump’s] brand.
“For some people, if you write really heavy, Sharpies are really good instrument. People that write heavy are more passionate.”
