Ole and Sven’s Flight Home

Ole and Sven were flying back to New York after a wonderful vacation in Europe. The flight had been smooth, the cabin was quiet, and everyone was relaxing when the captain’s voice came over the loudspeaker.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to let you know that we’ve lost one of our engines. There’s no cause for alarm—this Boeing 747 is designed to fly safely on three engines. The only inconvenience is that we’ll be arriving in New York about one hour later than scheduled.”

The passengers exchanged nervous glances, but soon settled back into their seats.

About thirty minutes later, the captain spoke again.

“Folks, we’ve now lost a second engine. There’s still no danger, and the aircraft remains perfectly safe. Unfortunately, this will delay our arrival by another hour, so we’ll now be about two hours late.”

A few people chuckled uneasily, while others stared silently out the windows.

Half an hour later, the intercom crackled once more.

“Ladies and gentlemen… I honestly don’t know what’s happening today, but we’ve just lost our third engine. Please remain calm. This aircraft was built to fly safely even on a single engine. The only bad news is that we’ll now arrive approximately three hours late.”

The cabin fell completely silent.

Ole leaned toward Sven, scratched his head, and whispered,

“You know, Sven…”

“If dat last engine quits…”

“…ve’re gonna be up here all night.”
