Little Emma had a serious problem during Sunday School: she was absolutely exhausted.
Within minutes of sitting down, her eyes started closing.
The teacher noticed and decided to test the class.
“Who created the world?”
Emma didn’t answer.
Her eyes were completely shut.
The boy sitting behind her quietly poked her with a pencil.
Emma jumped up and shouted,
“God Almighty!”
The teacher smiled.
“Correct!”
Emma sat back down, trying to stay awake.
A few minutes later, the teacher asked another question.
“Who is our Savior?”
Emma was silent again.
Poke!
Emma shot upright.
“Jesus Christ!”
“Excellent!” the teacher said.
Emma slowly turned around and glared at the boy.
Then the teacher asked one final question:
“And what did Eve say to Adam after they had many children?”
Emma closed her eyes again.
The boy behind her raised his pencil.
Poke!
Emma spun around and shouted:
“Touch me with that pencil ONE more time, and you’re gonna need Jesus before I do!”
The entire class exploded with laughter.
Even the teacher had to turn away because she couldn’t keep a straight face.
The boy quietly put his pencil down.
Emma smiled.
And suddenly, Sunday School was wide awake.
