The late Duke of Edinburgh valued efficiency and common sense. According to media reports, he had little patience when officials, courtiers, or family members made matters more complicated than necessary. His philosophy was best captured in his famous phrase: “Just get on with it.”
King Charles may have drawn inspiration from his father’s no-nonsense mindset, fully immersing himself in his duties despite his health challenges. She wrote, “Perhaps the words of his late father, Prince Philip, have resonated with him the most. The ‘no fuss’ royal frequently reminded his children to ‘just get on with it,’ and his eldest son has clearly adopted that resilient attitude since his can.cer diagnosis last February.”
When Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952 at the age of 25, Prince Philip stepped into the role of royal consort, a position he held for nearly seven decades.
One of his most significant contributions to the monarchy was the creation of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in 1956, a program designed to help young people build essential life skills, confidence, and resilience.
