‘Reason why’ Kate Middleton broke huge tradition in emotional Mother’s Day post

The Princess of Wales’ decision to announce things up this Mother’s Day in terms on what she uploads on social media has left many fans wondering the same thing – ‘Why?’

In Kate’s 2025 post, the mum-of-three uploaded emotional video crediting Mother Nature on social media yesterday (30 Mar), breaking her tradition of sharing family photos.

The clip – which has her children, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte – sees the 43-year-old touching the bark of a tree. Her husband, Prince William, meanwhile, is seen from the back, walking through a forest with the family’s dog, Orla.

“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” Kate captioned the video.

“This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life. C.”

Now, any follower of the British monarchy will be curious that Kate’s latest post is world’s away from her usual Mother’s Day content.

In 2024, Kate’s inadvertently sparked discussion global debate by sharing a photograph online her children.

After keen-eyed viewers found a number of inaccuracies in the snap – including a distorted area near Charlotte’s sleeve, patchy window panes, the window itself having no reflection, and Kate’s zip stopping part way down her jacket – the Princess was forced to apologise.

Kate later broke the news that she’d encounter planned abdominal surgery, received a can.cer diagnosis, and receiving treatment behind the scenes.

“It was a really ludicrous, over exaggerated response to something, particularly in an industry where doctored photos of celebrities are routine…” he said HELLO! today (31 Mar).

“They [the Wales’] grasped it very quickly. There was a quick turnaround the next day where I think she apologised. And I think that was the right thing to do.”

The royal commentator added: “And in the same way that the picture was very hands-on, so was the response.

Kate’s 2025 video is revealed that she’d concluded with chemotherapy.

The video also displayed William – as well as their three children – and saw the Wales’ enjoying the outdoors, walking through woods and the couple cuddling as they hold hands.

“I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can,” Kate said in the clip.

“Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
