Ava Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, has spoken publicly about her se..xuality on Instagram.
Witherspoon has three children, Ava and her son Deacon Phillippe, who she shares with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
The Legally Blonde actress has a kid named Tennessee James Toth with her ex, Jim Toth.
Ava has finally spoken up about her se..xuality, posting some powerful social media posts, and the internet is embracing it!
“Yaaaaaaaas! Welcome to the club lovely!” one fan writes.
Another pens: “Congratulations to you! Good for you. Beautiful just like mum.”
“Whatever you want to be is none of my business!! I will support you no matter what,” agrees a third.
This is not the first time Ava’s personal life has made news.
Previously, Witherspoon spoke honestly with InStyle magazine about her children’s unique upbringing, which, unlike the actress herself, was spent in the center of stardom.
The Big Little Lies actress explained, “It’s an odd situation because I didn’t grow up famous. So [Ava is] living an experience that I did not have, and so are my sons.
“We are lucky enough to have friends who grew up in Hollywood and can help give them advice on how to navigate.”
Witherspoon went on to express her unwavering support for her children and their adventures to discover who they are, saying, “Ava is so down-to-earth. She wants to do great things in the world.”
The Cruel Intentions actress explained that Ava is ‘trying to find herself’ and figuring out her ‘route’ in life.
Ava, Witherspoon’s daughter, came out on Instagram earlier this year!
Ava, 25, is frequently mistaken for the Just Like Heaven actress and already has a flourishing career of her own, having collaborated with notable companies such as Beyoncé’s Ivy Park and Pat McGrathLabs.
She recently used Instagram’s Q&A tool to communicate with her one million followers, where she ended up discussing her se…xuality.
One fan enquired about Ava’s dating inclinations, and the actor responded straightforwardly.
She wrote “I’m attracted to… people!” above a photo of herself wearing blue eyeshadow.
She then explained in parenthesis: “Gender is whatever.”
While Ava does not indicate her se…xual orientation in the post, anyone who is attracted to a person rather than a gender might identify as ᴘᴀɴsᴇxᴜᴀʟ.
According to GLAAD, ᴘᴀɴsᴇxᴜᴀʟɪᴛʏ is defined as “attraction to all gender identities, or attraction to people regardless of gender.”
Ava is thought to be in a relationship with Owen Mahoney, a fellow UC Berkeley student, and they reportedly started dating early 2019.
It’s unclear if they’re still dating because they’re mostly offline, but he’s been noticeably absent from her Instagram recently.
Since her initial statement, Ava has spoken more about her se..xuality.
She’s previously warned (via People): “I can and will block profiles commenting ʙɪɢᴏᴛᴇᴅ/ʜᴀᴛᴇғᴜʟ messages under my posts.
“My Instagram profile is not a place for cruelty/hate speech and I intend to do what I can to keep it that way. Peace and love.”
And this summer, in honor of Pride Month, she published another photo boldly displaying her LGTBQ+ status.
Ava’s post read: “Once upon a time, some gal on the internet said ‘gender is whatever’ in reference to her own se..xuality.
“Many took her words out of context, but she knew what she meant. Anyways, this is her posting for the first day of Pride Month 2024.”
In an Instagram story follow-up, she also wished ‘Happy Pride Month’ to ‘my LGBTQ+ community’ and the haters in the comments section.
The post has received acclaim from fans, with Charmed actress Alyssa Milano remarking, “This picture made me smile so big. Happy Pride!”
Dylan Mulvaney, a TikTok star, adds: “So much love for you!”
And it appears that Ava has her famous mom’s full backing, as she liked the sweet post.
