An excited woman was browsing through the classified section of her local newspaper when a particular advertisement caught her eye: “Purebred Police Dog – Only $25.”
Thinking it was the absolute bargain of a lifetime, she didn’t waste a single second. She immediately dialed the number, handed over her credit card details, and ordered the dog to be delivered to her house the very next morning.
The next day, a delivery van pulled into her driveway. The driver walked to the back, opened the doors, and presented the woman with her new pet. She froze in disbelief. Standing before her was the most pathetic, scruffy, and mangiest-looking crossbreed mutt she had ever laid eyes on. It looked like it hadn’t seen a bathtub in years, let alone a police academy.
In a towering rage, she slammed her front door, marched over to the telephone, and aggressively called the man who had placed the ad.
“How dare you scam me like this?!” she screamed down the line. “How on earth can you have the audacity to call that flea-ridden, ugly mutt a purebred police dog?!”
The man on the other end didn’t even flinch. He took a calm breath and replied smoothly:
“Oh, don’t let his rugged looks deceive you, ma’am. He’s a highly trained undercover professional… He’s in the Secret Service.”
