A few family members were gathered at Big Momma’s house, enjoying a peaceful game of Spades.
Well… “peaceful” lasted about five minutes.
My cousin proudly announced,
“I’m getting $8,500 back on my taxes!”
My auntie looked over and said,
“So what? You’re gonna blow through that money just like you do every year!”
“You’ll buy a used car, a brand-new living room set, and probably a brand-new baby daddy!”
Everyone at the table went silent.
Then Auntie delivered the final blow:
“And after a month, the only thing that’ll still be working is that living room set!”
The room went DEAD SILENT.
My cousin didn’t say a word.
She just reached over and pulled six of Auntie’s braids clean out.
At that point, somebody yelled,
“Forget the cards! BREAK IT UP!”
The Spades game was officially over.
And Big Momma reportedly said,
“Next time y’all come over, we’re playing Uno.”
Because apparently, Spades comes with a physical-contact rule nobody told us about.
